Oscars 2011 Red Carpet Style

The biggest night in Hollywood brought out all the stars and the chance to overdose on all the fashion candy. Here's my pick of the treats on offer:

Cate Blanchett's dreamlike soft lilac Givenchy gown is definitely a favourite of mine. Its structured shoulders were the perfect contrast for the delicate fabric and intricate bead work. Pastels and nudes were a strong trend at this year's Oscars and the stars showed how even in the palest of shades you can stand out.

Michelle Williams looked effortlessly chic in her Chanel gown. The glistening gown, minimal accessories and her blonde crop gave her a modern and elegant look and her ensemble is a firm favourite of mine.

Scarlett Johansson oozed sex appeal in her vampy burgundy lace backless Dolce & Gabbana gown. Her tousled textured bob and simple burgundy studs gave her look a modern finish.

Although Amy Adams lost out to co-star Melissa Leo for the Best Supporting Actress award, she lost in style. Her midnight blue mermaid effect gown by L’Wren Scott was a striking contrast to her auburn hair and pale skin. Amy accessoried the shimmering gown with $1, 350,000 worth of Cartier diamond jewellery, which allowed her to sparkle.

Purple (in all its shades) was a common colour choice for gowns and Mila Kunis continued this trend with her lace detailed lavendar Elie Saab gown. The combination of chiffon ruffles and lace allowed Mila to look a feminine vision in this dress- simply divine.

Gwyneth Paltrow's sleek poker-straight hairstyle was mirrored in her metallic Calvin Klein Collection gown. The silver column dress featured a plunging neckline so Gwyneth kept her accessories to a minimum to give a simple and sleek look.

Natalie Portman continues her class in how to do pregnancy in style with this plum Rodarte gown. The fashion house designed the costumes for Black Swan and as Natalie picked up the award for best actress for the film it seems only appropriate that she would do so in one of Rodarte's pieces.

Halle Berry by-passed her traditional black in favour of a softer shade with this nude Marchesa gown. The sequinned number with frothy tulle edging oozed romance.
